The Team: Sandham Swift Racing
Jack Sandham and Ed Swift formed Sandham Swift Racing in 1995 to compete at the highest levels of sportscar racing, first in IMSA racing and then in the American Le Mans Series. The team is managed day-to-day by Sandham, the product of a racing family that owned a car repair shop and produced five competitive racers in early NASCAR and sportscar circuits in the South. Sandham himself grew up with a goal not of racing, but of owning a team that proved American automotive might on great road courses around the world.

British inventor and racing fanatic Edward Swift proved to be the perfect complement to Sandham's racing know-how. Swift added the Sandham Swift partnership to his collection of teams competing in racing series around the world. Though based in London and focusing most of his time on running his company and managing his Formula 1 team, Swift still joins the Sandham Swift operation for the two longer races on the ALMS schedule each year.

Sandham Swift boasts a loyal and stable racing team. Sponsors Racegear.com, Active-Fit Clothing, and Leninger's Enduro Shine have been with Sandham Swift since its inception. Founding team members include the late, great driver Wade Becker, chief engineer Sam Nichols (#28), crew chiefs Bruce Kunze (#28) and Walter Bryant (#29), and eight other members of the paddock and over-the-wall pit crew.

The Car: Corvette C6.R
Corvette Racing introduced a pair of new Compuware Corvette C6.R race cars at the season-opening Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in March 2005. The two-car factory team raced to 10 victories in 11 starts, including the team's fourth 1-2 finish in the GT1 class in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Developed in tandem with the sixth-generation Corvette, the Corvette C6.R shares components and technology with its production counterpart. For example, the street car's flush-mounted headlights, central air intake and sleek body design enhance the performance of the race car, while the production Z06 Corvette's 7.0-liter LS7 small-block V-8 engine, carbon fiber body panels and aerodynamic enhancements were inspired by the racing version.
